RJC is the world’s leading organization for setting sustainability standards in the jewelry and watch industry. Formed with a vision to create a responsible global supply chain that promotes trust, it ensures transparent, appropriate and representative governance for its entire membership. Created in 2005 by 14 pioneering top-tier brands and financial institutions, today it has nearly 1700 member companies across 71 countries of the world. Together with its partners including Jeweler Support Network, The Plumb Club, United Nations Global Compact and ISEAL Alliance, the RJC leads the jewelry and watch industry’s belief, establishing trust and paving the path towards responsible supply chain, better business ethics, equal rights, better standards and services and environmental commitment.


The purpose of this certification is to promote responsible ethical, environmental and social practicesnwith respect to human rights, at every step of the jewelry and watch industry supply chain beginning from mining to the final step of retail. The RJC’s aim is to build client confidence by adhering to strict  rules, while ensuring transparency in management of the precious metals and stones.


What does RJC Certification imply?

RJC Certification bridges the gap between standard and impact helping members to transform their management practices into measurable action. Becoming RJC Certified member demonstrates the member’s commitment to responsible jewelry and promotes trust in the supply chain. The members have to follow the RJC Code of Practices and have two years before they achieve Certified Status that is given only after they meet the Stringent RJC requirements. The Certification is dynamic since the members are audited actively to renew the certificate.

General Obligations – optimize legal & regulatory compliance, promote responsible operational and business practices with other business partners

Responsible Sourcing & Respect for human rights – Manage risks related to origin of products, promote respect for human rights & anti-corruption and contribute to community development
Rights & Working Conditions - ensure compliance with international labor conventions & implement responsible working conditions across the supply chain
Health, Safety & Environment – Apply responsible health, safety & environmental management practices across supply chain

Information about Gemstones & Metal Products – Ensure appropriate disclosure of information about the gemstones & precious metal products including information for the consumers
Responsible Mining Operations – Ensure implementation of responsible mining and exploration practices for production of gemstones and precious metals
